Candles and Diya lighting set the stage for Diwali celebrations at the recently rebuilt Sharda Yatra temple at the Line of Control in Teetwal, Kashmir, on Thursday. An official statement noted the presence of a significant number of Kashmiri Pandits, local residents, and army jawans, all participating in the lighting of oil lamps and candles, distributing sweets, and rejoicing in the festivities.
Ajaz Khan, a member of the Construction Committee, remarked on the historical significance of this event, comparing it to Diwali in Ayodhya. Ravinder Pandita extended warm Diwali greetings to Sharda followers globally. The Save Sharda Committee spearheaded the temple and Sikh Gurudwara's reconstruction after reclaiming the site last year, rebuilding structures lost during the tribal raids of 1947.
In a gesture of camaraderie, the Indian Army's Romeo Force Rashtriya Rifles battalion celebrated Diwali with villagers in DKG Dehra Ki Gali of Tapa Pir and Manyal village in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. The army's initiative saw participation from all demographics, including women, children, and the elderly. Soldiers distributed sweets, engaged in community interaction, and installed solar lights, manifesting the festival's spirit. Diwali, celebrated nationwide on October 31, embodies the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.
