Shell Completes Cleanup of Bukom Oil Leak
Shell has announced the completion of an oil spill cleanup between Bukom Besar and Kechil Islands in Singapore, following a leak reported on October 20 from a land-based pipeline. The joint inspection with local authorities confirmed the successful cleanup, with no impact on operations.
Shell proclaimed on Wednesday that the cleanup of the oil spill channel between Bukom Besar and Kechil Islands near Bukom, Singapore has been finalized. Officials conducted a joint inspection, and the company's cleanup efforts received formal approval.
The oil leak was initially reported on October 20, originating from a land-based pipeline at Shell Energy and Chemicals Park in Bukom. Approximately 30-40 metric tons of oil and water mixture seeped into the sea.
Despite the incident, Shell assured that their operational activities remained unaffected during the cleanup process. The company worked closely with authorities to ensure the completion was satisfactory and adhered to environmental protocols.
