In the wake of a devastating boat dock collapse in Georgia that claimed seven lives, Bilfinger's CEO, Thomas Schulz, has committed to full transparency during the investigation. The incident occurred amidst celebrations of the Gullah-Geechee community, composed of Black slave descendants, and has left multiple people injured.
The construction of the ill-fated dock and gangway was managed by Centennial Contractors Enterprises, a Bilfinger company, in collaboration with local subcontractors and vendors. Despite efforts, the cause of the collapse remains elusive. 'We don't know much. There is no indictment or anything else,' Schulz informed the press.
Following the disaster, Bilfinger's share price suffered a significant drop of up to 15%. Addressing investors' concerns, Schulz stressed the importance of determining the exact cause and consequences of the incident before making assurances, dismissing speculations about potential costs as premature.
