Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday underscored the significance of the Unity Run, portraying it as a commitment not only to India's unity but also to the goal of a 'Viksit Bharat'. Speaking at the 'Unity Run' event, Shah highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to establish the run in memory of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

This year's event, moved to Dhanteras on October 29 due to Diwali falling on October 31, continues a tradition started by Modi in 2015 to honor Patel, considered the architect of India's integrity. Amit Shah lamented attempts in the past to diminish Patel's legacy, applauding Modi for erecting the world's tallest statue in his memory.

With prominent figures like Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya attending, the 'Run for Unity' commemorates Patel's birth anniversary. Modi, through his 'Mann Ki Baat' program, urged widespread participation, linking unity with national fitness and prosperity.
