Nikhil Kumarswamy, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for the Channapatna Assembly bypoll, visited the Thirumalagiri Shri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Bengaluru on Friday. Joined by his wife Revathi, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, and grandfather and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, he sought blessings before filing his nomination.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contest, Nikhil Kumarswamy said, "Today is a very big day for us. A lot of recent updates have taken place. I am happy I got the chance to fight for the seat. All the workers are with me in this fight. I am sure people will also bless me." The support from party workers and his belief in the constituency's backing further amplified his optimism.
In a strategic political development, Nikhil Kumarswamy is set to face CP Yogeshwara, who recently shifted alliance from the BJP to Congress. The by-election was called after HD Kumaraswamy's parliamentary win, leaving the assembly seat vacant. The announcement of Nikhil's candidature was made by former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, who expressed confidence in the alliance's prospects in the bypolls.
