JKNC Leader Condemns Attack, Warns of Democracy Disruption in Jammu and Kashmir

In a strong denunciation, JKNC leader Sheikh Bashir Ahmad condemned the terrorist attack on a military vehicle in Baramulla, attributing it to forces intent on halting democratic progress in Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking to ANI, Ahmad highlighted the ongoing challenges of militancy in the region's last 35 years.
Ahmad asserted that such attacks are part of a deliberate scheme to obstruct democracy's growth, referencing consistent occurrences since the inaugural assembly oath ceremony. According to Ahmad, these events suggest a calculated effort to destabilize the democratic setup in the region.
In the aftermath of the attack, Baramulla witnessed continued military operations, with fatalities including two Indian Army soldiers and two civilian porters. The clash also left a soldier and a porter injured. The Chinar Corps confirmed ongoing operations and previous casualties in updates shared on X.
In a related incident on October 24, a laborer from Uttar Pradesh was shot and injured in Pulwama, signaling persistent unrest. This follows a deadly attack on October 20 at a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh highway, claiming the lives of a doctor and six workers.
