In a significant development, the Mumbai Police disclosed on Tuesday that the gunmen responsible for the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique had conducted at least five practice sessions prior to the fatal attack.
These rehearsals took place in a forest along the Karjat-Khopoli road, where the assailants honed their shooting skills by firing at trees near Palasadari village. The murder, which saw Siddique shot outside his Nirmal Nagar office, has prompted the suspension of police security guard Shyam Sonawane for failing to respond during the attack.
The ongoing investigation has led to the arrest of four suspects, while three others remain elusive. Interrogations revealed Ram Kanojia was initially contracted for the murder, demanding a one crore rupee fee. A shocking twist emerged with a photo of Siddique's son found on an alleged assailant's phone, believed to be shared via Snapchat by their handler.
