Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reassured the public that the state is ready to handle Cyclone Dana, expected to impact north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island starting late October 24. Following a cyclone preparedness review, Majhi emphasized the commitment to ensuring zero casualties and advised residents against panic.

The state plans for 100% evacuation in high-risk areas, deploying NDRF, ODRAF, and Fire Services teams at the ready. Cyclone shelters will be stocked with essential supplies, and plans are in place for the rapid restoration of utilities and critical services like electricity in hospitals. Vigilance is also heightened to prevent profiteering in essential commodities.

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo confirmed that all relevant departments are on high alert. Heavy rainfall predictions have prompted anticipatory measures in energy, agriculture, and revenue sectors. With Kendrapara, Balasore, and Bhadrak expected to bear the brunt, district officials stand prepared for swift action, having canceled leaves and issued evacuation advisories.
