PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has called on local administrators to take immediate action to prevent non-local labourers from leaving the Gagangir construction site after a terrorist assault resulted in seven fatalities.
Mufti emphasized that the panic-driven decision to push labourers out would not solve underlying issues, suggesting that it could send a negative message nationwide. She highlighted the recent peaceful elections in Jammu and Kashmir and warned against decisions that could destabilize the region's fragile peace.
The PDP leader also raised concerns that the enforced exodus could incite hostility against Kashmiris residing in other parts of India. She asked Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and LG Manoj Sinha to provide labourers with adequate time instead of coercing them to leave immediately.
