CropLife India, a key association in the crop science sector, has named Ankur Aggarwal as its new chairman. This leadership change comes at a critical time as the country grapples with shrinking farmland and increasing food security concerns.
Aggarwal, also Crystal Crop Protection Ltd's managing director, succeeds K C Ravi, who had a four-year tenure. Alongside him, Anil Kakkar from Sumitomo Chemical India will continue as vice chairman, with Mohan Babu from Bayer CropScience joining as the second vice chairman.
The agricultural sector in India faces challenges with a growing population and limited farmland. Aggarwal emphasized the importance of sustainable practices and responsible crop solutions. CropLife member companies plan significant investments in precision agriculture and biopesticides to improve productivity.
