As India marked the vibrant festival of Karwa Chauth, women from the Punjabi and Sindhi communities gathered at temples across Uttar Pradesh's capital, Lucknow, to partake in time-honored rituals and exchange ceremonial thalis on Sunday.

Satyamvada Singh, an enthusiastic participant who has observed the Karwa Chauth fast for six years, shared her insights with ANI, emphasizing the unique way the Sindhi and Punjabi communities celebrate the festival in Lucknow. She highlighted the communal aspect of the event, which begins at the temple with exchanging thalis and prayers for their husbands' long lives.

The importance of the festival is further accentuated by the participation of husbands, joining their wives in fasting. Singh mentioned her husband's involvement, stating, 'We both want to live long together and now we are just waiting for the moon to appear so we can break our fast.' The day is marked by the 'nirjala' fast, where married Hindu women abstain from food and water, with the sighting of the moon signaling the fast's end.
