The Indian Army organized a poignant commemorative program in Manipur's Khurkul and Bethel High School, Moreh, to honor the soldiers who sacrificed during the 1962 Sino-India War. The event aimed to instill patriotism and reverence for the Indian Armed Forces, according to a Ministry of Defence release.

The ceremony began with a tribute to the fallen soldiers, highlighted by a presentation that underscored the day's historical significance and the heroic tales of valor and selflessness. Students in attendance were encouraged to draw inspiration from these gallant actions and to embody the commitment to service for the nation.

A month-long series of commemorative events for the 62nd Walong Day started on October 17. The activities include adventurous challenges like white water rafting and treks, as well as practical support through medical camps, all designed to strengthen community bonds and honor the courage of those who defended the eastern front in 1962.

The commemoration will conclude on Walong Day, November 14, with the reopening of the renovated Walong War Memorial, featuring a solemn wreath-laying ceremony and cultural performances by Mishmi and Meyor dancers, which reflect the region's rich heritage. These events are a testament to the enduring spirit and sacrifice of the Indian Army.
