In a pointed critique, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of contributing to Delhi's escalating pollution through what she termed as 'cheap politics'. Addressing a press conference, Atishi compared stubble burning statistics, noting a 50% reduction in Punjab under the AAP government compared to increases in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
Atishi emphasized that the surge in air and water pollution in Delhi is linked to BJP's governance, particularly highlighting the role diesel buses from Uttar Pradesh play in deteriorating air quality around Anand Vihar. She questioned why Haryana and Uttar Pradesh haven't transitioned to CNG and electric buses like Delhi.
Further criticizing BJP, Atishi linked the toxic foam in the Yamuna to industrial waste by factories in Haryana and polluted water released by Uttar Pradesh. Alongside Environment Minister Gopal Rai, she inspected Anand Vihar, where air quality remains a pressing concern, underscoring the deployment of anti-pollution measures and resources across Delhi.
