The health of Dr Aniket Mahato, a junior doctor on hunger strike since October 5 at Kolkata's Dorina crossing, continues to deteriorate, raising concerns among the local police. In a letter to Dr Mahato, the Officer-in-Charge of Hare Street Police Station highlighted the unauthorized nature of his protest and his declining health conditions, which have become evident through on-site monitoring devices and other channels.

Despite attempts by the Kolkata Police to provide him with an ambulance and facilitate medical assistance, Dr Mahato has refused intervention. The police have now involved the Department of Health of the West Bengal government, requesting that a team of doctors be deployed to ensure the doctor's well-being. Authorities are urging Dr Mahato to leave his protest site to receive the necessary medical support, promising comprehensive logistical help.

Meanwhile, the West Bengal Junior Doctors' Front has expressed its grievances in a letter to Chief Secretary Manoj Pant over the state government's lack of communication. Frustration mounts as 96 hours into the hunger strike, the state only scheduled a meeting. The group demands consistent updates and transparency regarding their earlier requests and emphasized the need for a formal report on the government's actions, highlighting the 23-day gap without the promised security audit update.
