The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is preparing for a pivotal three-day conference in Guwahati, beginning January 5, 2026. The event aims to devise a roadmap for challenging the BJP's dominance in the upcoming assembly elections. Party Secretary Suprakash Talukdar emphasized the necessity of this gathering to analyze the socio-economic challenges facing Assam.
In a press briefing, Talukdar revealed that 325 delegates, representing nearly 11,000 members, would congregate to discuss strategies for countering policies that have allegedly impaired the quality of life in the state. The pressing agenda includes addressing the escalating costs of essentials and the rising unemployment rate hampering the average citizen.
Additionally, the conference intends to spotlight the struggles of Assam's agrarian community, who are battling high farming expenses with little support for fair market prices. A significant highlight will be electing a new leadership team to bolster the party's Assam strategy. The opening rally at Brahmaputra's banks will set the tone for this critical assembly.
