Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri paid heartfelt tributes to the veteran industrialist Ratan Tata, commemorating his substantial contributions to India's development and remembering him as an integral figure in the country's liberalisation. Ratan Tata, who served as Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai at the age of 86 on Wednesday.

Puri highlighted Tata's dual legacy of expanding a business conglomerate and advancing humanitarian causes, noting discussions they had during Tata's bid to acquire Air India. 'He will not just be remembered as a major contributor to the modern Indian economy, but as a legend,' Puri stated.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi expressed shock at Tata's passing, underscoring Tata's synonymity with vision, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to nation-building. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar from ASEAN summits in Vientiane described Tata as a 'remarkable person' and remarked on the emotional impact of his death across social spectra.

The public can pay their last respects at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Mumbai where Tata's remains will rest before the final journey at 4 pm. Tata, born in December 1937, also chaired Tata Trusts, major philanthropic entities in India.
