The Maharashtra government has urged the central authorities to honor Tata with the Bharat Ratna posthumously, underscoring the profound impact he had on both the economy and society. The Maharashtra Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, passed the resolution amidst widespread mourning.

Ratan Tata passed away at the age of 86 in Mumbai. His body will lie in state for the public to pay respects before the last rites are performed with full state honors. Leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, have lauded Tata's global influence and unwavering dedication to societal betterment.
