Srinagar witnessed a remarkable cultural milestone as it hosted its first Durga Puja, a festival that signifies the victory of good over evil through the legend of Goddess Durga triumphing over the demon Mahishasura. Traditionally celebrated with grandeur in West Bengal, this event highlighted the region's growing cultural diversity.

The Sarbojanin Shree Durga Puja was organized by the Bengali Swarna Shilpi Brinda, a longstanding community of Bengali goldsmiths in the area. This celebration was crucial, not only for its cultural significance but also as a testament to Srinagar's inclusivity, embracing various traditions within the city.

For the first time, a confluence of locals, tourists, and Bengalis in Srinagar gathered to partake in the five-day festivities. Held at a specially constructed pandal, the event featured a majestic idol of Goddess Durga, adorned with vibrant decorations and traditional art. The spiritual atmosphere was enhanced by recitations of Sanskrit mantras and the rhythmic beats of the *dhaak*. Adding to the occasion's prominence, the DIG of Central Kashmir from the Jammu and Kashmir Police also attended.
