The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated a sweeping victory in both the Haryana assembly elections and the polls in Jammu and Kashmir, inflicting another setback on the Congress. BJP National spokesperson CR Kesavan criticized Congress for its consistent electoral failures, attributing them to the party's 'anti-people, anti-Dalit, anti-OBC, and anti-democratic policies'.
In Haryana, the BJP won 48 out of 90 seats, while Congress managed 37, despite the BJP's decade-long incumbency. Independents and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secured three and two seats, respectively. Commenting on the results, Kesavan said Congress had failed to leverage the BJP's anti-incumbency factor and questioned Rahul Gandhi's absence from the political scene.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir saw BJP's strong performance in the Jammu region, winning 29 seats, although it didn't secure any seats in the Kashmir Valley. Congress, aligned with the National Conference (NC), gained only six out of its contested 32 seats. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini credited BJP's victory to PM Modi's leadership, expressing gratitude towards voters and affirming his commitment to service.
