JSW MG Motor Partners with Vision Mechatronics for Green Energy Innovations

JSW MG Motor India teams up with Vision Mechatronics to repurpose used EV batteries using a local battery management system for large-scale energy storage. This initiative aims to provide sustainable energy solutions, starting with a UPS backup for industrial use, showcasing the potential of second-life batteries.

JSW MG Motor India announced a new partnership with Vision Mechatronics on Friday, focused on recycling used electric vehicle batteries. The collaboration involves repurposing these batteries using a homegrown battery management system for secondary large-scale energy storage applications.

The initial phase targets a UPS backup solution, with the first product already implemented at an industrial facility in Pune, demonstrating the effectiveness and adaptability of second-life EV batteries. This effort is part of JSW MG Motor India's 'Project Revive,' aimed at creating innovative energy solutions.

Vision Mechatronics' Managing Director Rashi Gupta highlighted that the repurposed batteries could serve various applications, such as UPS, diesel engine generator replacements, or backup systems. Currently, the focus remains on UPS as a convenient option, with plans to expand in the coming months.
