In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a 35-year-old teacher and his family were gunned down in their home in Oharwa Bhawani on Thursday evening. The victims were identified as Sunil Kumar, his wife Poonam Bharti, and their two young daughters, aged five and two.
The attack, which occurred on the eve of Navratri, has prompted police to investigate a potential connection to a previous complaint filed by Sunil Kumar's deceased wife against Chandan Verma under various sections of the Indian Penal Code at the Raebareli Police Station. According to Superintendent Anup Singh, initial findings show no signs of forced entry, suggesting the attackers were known to the family.
Post-mortem examinations have confirmed that bullets caused the deaths, with one bullet recovered from Sunil and two from Poonam, indicating a targeted assault. Local political figures, including Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma, have called for an expedited investigation, emphasizing the need for justice and questioning the state's law and order efficacy.
