The family of Akshay Shinde, accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case, is calling his death at the hands of the police a 'fake encounter' and demanding justice.
Shinde was killed near Mumbra Bypass around 6:15pm, with authorities alleging he snatched an officer's gun during an investigation into a complaint filed by his former wife.
However, his family insists he was targeted unfairly, alleging a conspiracy involving the police and the Badlapur school management. Shinde reportedly informed his family that he was being mistreated in custody and even sent a note asking for money for his release.
