In a landmark political event, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a record voter turnout in its Assembly elections, the first since the abrogation of Article 370. The Election Commission reported an overall turnout of 63.88%, reflecting the strong voter engagement in the democratic process.

During a press briefing at the BJP headquarters in Jammu, party's local President Ravinder Raina expressed profound gratitude towards the electorate and the security forces. He acknowledged the significant contributions made by the Jammu and Kashmir police alongside paramilitary forces in ensuring smooth election proceedings in all three phases of polling.

The Assembly elections, concluded on October 1, were marked by participation from key political figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The results, eagerly awaited, are set to be announced on October 8, following an intense campaign season led by prominent leaders from the BJP and the INDIA alliance.
