In a disturbing incident, a 30-year-old man identified as Karan has been detained by the police in East Delhi's Shakarpur area for allegedly installing spy cameras in a woman's house and recording her without consent. The police disclosed the arrest on Tuesday.

According to authorities, the incident was uncovered after the victim, a competitive exam aspirant living alone in Shakarpur, noticed unusual activity on her WhatsApp account. This prompted her to search her house, where she discovered a hidden camera nestled in the bulb holder of her bathroom. Alarmed, the woman immediately alerted the police.

Upon investigation, a police team found another hidden camera in the bulb holder of her bedroom. The victim revealed that she had often entrusted her house keys to her landlord's son, Karan, during her trips to her hometown in Uttar Pradesh. During interrogation, Karan confessed to installing the spy cameras three months ago when he had access to the house keys and had been retrieving video footage by frequently asking for the keys under various pretenses.

The police have confiscated one spy camera and two laptops used by Karan to store the illicit recordings. A case has been registered under Section 77 of the BNS Act, and the accused, identified as a seven-year competitive exam aspirant with physical disabilities, has been taken into custody with further investigations ongoing.
