Karnataka Commissions First Gas-Based Yelahanka Combined Cycle Power Plant

Karnataka is set to commission its first gas-based power plant, the 370 MW Yelahanka Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP), on September 24 in Yelahanka. Officials confirmed this milestone on Saturday.
In a review meeting chaired by Energy Minister KJ George, it was decided that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would inaugurate the plant, with Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar in attendance. Established by Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL), the plant will produce 236.825 MW via a gas turbine generator and 133.225 MW through a steam turbine generator.
Energy Minister George emphasized the project's importance, noting it is the first gas-based electricity facility in the state. Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta highlighted the Congress government's efforts to expand energy capacity, pointing out that no new gas plants were established by the previous administration.
