In an alarming case of cybercrime, Madhya Pradesh Police have registered a complaint against an unidentified individual who impersonated Bhopal Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh on WhatsApp. The impersonator used the collector's photo and demanded money from a victim, according to officials on Saturday.

Shailendra Singh Chouhan, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Crime Branch Bhopal, noted that fraudsters are increasingly turning to social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, and WhatsApp to deceive people. "This recent case involves a WhatsApp message sent in the name of the Collector of Bhopal, which constitutes a serious cyber crime," he stated.

The police have initiated a thorough investigation, identifying that the SIM card used does not belong to the actual owner of the implicated WhatsApp account. Authorities are now working to gather technical details to expose the culprit fully. "We are examining the phone number involved and will cooperate with WhatsApp to apprehend the main suspect," Chouhan added.
