In a rare and impressive feat, veterinary doctors in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, successfully performed a tumor surgery on a 21-year-old parrot, saving its life. This pioneering operation in the district spanned two hours and involved the removal of a 20-gram tumor.

The parrot's owner discovered a growing lump on its neck six months ago, which soon began to affect the bird's ability to eat and speak. Concerned for the parrot's health, the owner consulted with veterinarians at the district veterinary hospital in Satna.

Dr. Balendra Singh, one of the attending veterinary doctors, revealed that the parrot weighed just 98 grams, with the tumor accounting for roughly a fifth of its body weight. Post-surgery, the parrot has been declared completely healthy. 'It's now eating properly and free from the disease,' Dr. Singh confirmed. The tumor has been sent to Rewa veterinary college for further examination. This case stands as the first-ever recorded instance of a tumor in a bird from the district, making it a landmark achievement for the veterinary team.
