Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, was released from Tihar jail on Friday evening following a Supreme Court bail in a corruption case linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. Kejriwal's lawyers presented surety bonds to secure his release before a special CBI judge, citing the Supreme Court's directive.

Upon his release, Kejriwal was welcomed by a throng of AAP leaders and supporters. His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, along with other party leaders, accompanied him to his official residence. The Delhi CM also held a roadshow from the jail to his residence.

Kejriwal addressed his supporters outside the jail, stating, 'Today I want to say that I have come out of jail and my courage has increased 100 times...The walls of their jail cannot weaken the courage of Kejriwal...I will pray to God to continue showing me the right path, and I will continue fighting against all the powers who are trying to weaken the country and divide the country.' Earlier, AAP supporters celebrated outside the CM's residence by bursting crackers.

The Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal, stating prolonged incarceration would be an unjust deprivation of liberty. The conditions for his release include refraining from public comments about the case and appearing at all trial court hearings unless exempted. Kejriwal, arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21, had been granted interim bail until June 1 but was required to stay away from the Office of the Chief Minister and Delhi Secretariat. He surrendered on June 2 and was arrested by the CBI on June 26 while in ED custody. On July 12, the Supreme Court granted interim bail in the ED case, though his CBI custody was extended by Rouse Avenue Court.
