Liquor Ban in Hyderabad During Ganesh Idol Immersion for Public Peace

To maintain public peace and tranquility during the final immersion of Ganesh idols, Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand has mandated the closure of liquor outlets in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The restriction is effective from 6:00 AM, September 17 to 6:00 PM, September 18, according to an official notification.

The establishments ordered to close include wine shops, toddy shops, and bars, with the exception of those in star hotels and registered clubs. This action comes under Section 20 of the Telangana Excise Act, 1968, and aims to prevent any potential disturbances during the immersion process. Officials, including all SHOs and Additional Inspectors of L&O Police Stations in Hyderabad city, are authorized to take legal action against violators.

Ganesh Chaturthi, a 10-day festival, concludes with Anantha Chaturdashi. Celebrated as Vinayak Chaturthi or Vinayak Chavithi, the festival venerates Lord Ganesha, the god of new beginnings and remover of obstacles. Across India and globally, devotees celebrate Lord Ganesha's wisdom and intelligence through elaborate decorations, prayers, music, and festive chants. Streets come alive with vibrant processions and traditional rituals as people prepare offerings and visit adorned pandals.
