Bihar Police apprehended 14 individuals, including Janata Dal-United (JDU) leader Sitaram Prasad, on allegations of participating in a liquor and gambling party in Nalanda district.
Station in-charge Samrat Deepak confirmed that the arrests were made Wednesday night following a tip-off about the illegal activities flourishing in the Amber area. During the raid, police seized 292 litres of foreign liquor, 10 decks of cards, nine motorcycles, and 14 mobile phones.
The JDU responded swiftly by expelling Prasad, who was the party's Asthawan Block President, citing the negative impact on the party's image. Political circles erupted in debate, with Bihar Minister Vijay Chaudhary asserting the state's commitment to law enforcement, while RJD MLA Rakesh Roshan criticized the government for allegedly protecting a 'liquor mafia'.
