In a significant move, the Uttarakhand Excise Department raided over 100 liquor shops across the state on Tuesday. The operation, initiated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, aimed to address complaints of overpricing and liquor smuggling, creating widespread panic among contract operators.

An official release from the Chief Minister's Office stated, "The teams of the administration and the excise department conducted raids on more than 100 liquor shops across the state." Chief Minister Dhami, having received numerous complaints, directed stringent actions against those implicated. The raids spanned several districts including Pithoragarh, Almora, Nainital, and others.

Authorities confirmed that shops found guilty of overpricing or inadequate record-keeping will be sealed. The Chief Minister reiterated, "Overpricing and liquor smuggling will not be tolerated in the state." He also directed periodic future raids to curb illegal activities in the liquor market.

Previously, on Monday, Chief Minister Dhami reviewed the state's law and order situation in a detailed meeting with senior officials via video conferencing. High-ranking officers discussed enhancing crime control and improving intelligence systems. The CM emphasized community policing and efforts towards a drug-free Uttarakhand by 2025.

The administration has also been directed to boost public awareness and training programs for effective cybercrime prevention.
