A suspicious bag was found near RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Thursday, leading to a swift response from dog squads and bomb disposal teams. Authorities were alerted and promptly arrived at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate carried out a search operation at the residence of Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, at Chinar Park in Kolkata. The action is part of ongoing investigations into financial irregularities at the institution.

In a related development, Dr. Arnab Mukhopadhya called for a transparent discussion with MoS Health (West Bengal) Chandrima Bhattacharya amid protests by Haryana doctors. Mukhopadhya emphasized the need for live-televised discussions to ensure transparency. Despite expressing discontent, he affirmed that doctors' prerequisites were reasonable and that protests would continue.

Junior doctors continued their protests at Swasthya Bhawan in the Salt Lake area of Kolkata. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court remanded Sandip Ghosh and three others to judicial custody until September 23, in connection with RG Kar Medical College's financial irregularities.

The CBI's Anti-Corruption Branch had arrested Sandip Ghosh on September 2, following orders from the Calcutta High Court to investigate the alleged corruption. The case gained further notoriety after a second-year postgraduate medical student was raped and murdered inside the college's seminar hall on August 9.
