The BJP on Thursday approached the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) to investigate alleged financial irregularities in the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) under the AAP government.

In response, AAP dismissed the charges, asserting that the BJP is deliberately misleading the public to evade critical issues. They accused the BJP of engaging in 'dirty politics' and conspiring with officers to obstruct the release of funds.

Vijender Gupta, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, in his letter to the CVC, highlighted the absence of balance sheets for Rs 28,400 crore allocated to the DJB since 2015. AAP, however, stated that all balance sheets were ready. Gupta claimed that the Delhi High Court's intervention led to the preparation of balance sheets for the first three years but accused the government of intentionally leaving the balance sheets for the next two years pending.

Gupta further argued that the delayed audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) pointed to a deep conspiracy to hide financial irregularities.

Gupta also mentioned a detailed report submitted by Delhi's chief secretary regarding DJB's Rs 73,000 crore debt, which the AAP government failed to present in the Assembly.

AAP alleged that the BJP is creating an artificial crisis within the DJB to hinder sewer and pipeline projects while asserting that the BJP's negative agenda will affect its performance in the upcoming Assembly polls.
