Continuous rainfall has necessitated opening the Ana Sagar escape channel, resulting in significant water accumulation in the Hathi Bhata, Brahmapuri, and Shivpuri areas of Ajmer. Residents report water accumulation for the past 8 to 10 days, severely disrupting daily commuting. While the Municipal Corporation is distributing relief material, some residents contend they are not receiving adequate aid.

Anju Mishra, a Brahmapuri resident, lamented, "For 6 days, the entire area has been waterlogged. Our rations are depleting, and we're frustrated. Being from the Below Poverty Line category and residing in a rented home, I find the situation intolerable as water has risen to half the cylinder level." She mentioned, "The Municipal Corporation is providing relief to some, but I haven't received any." Another resident, Ratan Lal, commented, "The waterlogging is extreme; homes are inundated with 1.5 feet of water. We are confined to our homes and sourcing necessities ourselves. How long can we depend on others? Officials visit but take no tangible action."

Municipal Corporation worker Anil, speaking to ANI, asserted, "We've been delivering continuous relief despite over 15 days of waterlogging, supplying whatever residents request." RC Sharma, another local, added, "The city's heart is waterlogged. Sometimes it's not even rain but escape channel water causing issues. Many have fled their homes as cooking is impossible due to waterlogging."

Heavy rain on Sunday intensified waterlogging in Ajmer. The District Collector declared a holiday for all schools on Monday to protect students and teachers. Patel Ground and Kamala Nehru Hospital were heavily affected. Water from Ana Sagar Lake was drained to mitigate the situation. Ajmer District Collector Lok Bandhu stated, "Our teams have been working on waterlogged areas and have made progress recently." He mentioned a deployed medicine distribution team and warned of more rain, urging residents to stay indoors and contact the control room during emergencies.

The Jaipur Regional Meteorological Centre issued a yellow alert for Ajmer and an orange alert for other districts, expecting moderate to heavy rainfall. Normal weather is forecasted for Western Rajasthan. (ANI)
