BJP leaders, including Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, staged a protest in Kolkata on Tuesday against the rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College Hospital. Bista criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, asserting she has lost the moral right to continue in office following the incident.

Accusing Mamata Banerjee of deceit, Bista said, "Today we are here to seek justice for the grieving family. If anyone is to be blamed, it is Mamata Didi. This incident shames humanity. The day the CBI concludes its probe, Mamata Banerjee will be in jail," he told ANI.

Meanwhile, doctors continued their protest, defying the Supreme Court's directive to resume work by Tuesday evening. Despite a letter from the West Bengal Government inviting them to a meeting with the CM, the doctors refused to leave their protest site. West Bengal Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya mentioned that the CM waited for the doctors, but they did not show up.

Protesting doctors maintained that their demands were clear and they would not move. A representative stated, "This letter came from the principal secretary, but we have been protesting for 31 days. We will reply to the letter."

The Supreme Court emphasized that no action would be taken against the doctors if they return to work by tomorrow evening. Failure to comply could lead to disciplinary measures from the state government. Senior Advocate Geeta Luthra highlighted that doctors are facing threats. The court also directed that necessary safety and security measures be put in place for doctors in hospitals.

Chief Justice Chandrachud ordered the CBI to submit an updated status report by next week, with the court to review the matter on September 17.
