DIG Reviews Security Preparations for Jammu and Kashmir Elections

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, conducted inspections in Kathua's remote areas to oversee security preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The visit, announced officially on Monday, covered Basantpur, Satwain, Mahanpur, Basohli, Sheetal Nagar/Bhoond, and Bani on September 8.
Sharma convened meetings with civil administration and paramilitary forces, emphasizing the sensitivity of their duties and assuring full cooperation from Jammu and Kashmir Police. Additionally, he discussed joint anti-terrorist operations with Brigade commander Bani, who promised better coordination to eliminate infiltrating terrorists.
The DIG also visited the Bhoond police post, directing officers to prioritize public grievances, especially those from female complainants. Sharma also emphasized special attention to NDPS cases, road accidents, and land disputes. He interacted with VDG Members, reviewed their training, and stressed the importance of their duties. The elections will occur in three phases: September 18, September 25, and October 1, with counting on October 8.
