In a significant push to redefine community policing in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended and chaired a conference of 307 Thana level 'Nagarik Samitis' at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati. These Samitis comprise citizens and police representatives, aimed at bridging the public-police gap.

Addressing the gathering, CM Sarma emphasized the crucial role of Nagarik Samitis in assisting crime victims, particularly women and children. He urged these groups to build public awareness on legal procedures, including the filing of FIRs and obtaining certificates. He commended Assam Police for their dedication in turning the 2022 Nagarik Samiti decision into reality.

With a notable decline in terrorist activities, CM Sarma announced upcoming initiatives, including community activities and infrastructure support, to transform police stations into vibrant public service centers.
