Congress has intensified protests in Kerala, calling for the resignation of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan following allegations from Nilambur MLA PV Anwar against Vijayan's Political Secretary P Sasi and Additional Director General of Police M R Ajith Kumar. The protesters marched towards the Secretariat, voicing their demands.
Opposition Leader VD Satheesan and KPCC President K Sudhakaran joined the protest, criticizing the Kerala government. Satheesan expressed that ongoing allegations have raised doubts about the government's integrity, suggesting it operates more like a mafia gang than a state administration.
'The people's court is now judging this government. Constant allegations are being raised against it, leading to doubts about whether it is a government or a mafia gang. The Chief Minister's office is functioning like a mafia organisation,' Satheesan stated. KPCC President K Sudhakaran urged that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan be replaced for the betterment of Kerala.
'It is essential for Kerala that this Chief Minister be replaced. If the CPM doesn't make this decision, the people of this state must. Yesterday, my children, who did nothing wrong, were beaten up. If the Chief Minister doesn't resign, the people of Kerala will rise and force him out, with the Congress leading the way,' Sudhakaran added. On September 2, VD Satheesan led a protest in front of the Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram, accusing the government of protecting the accused in the Justice Hema Committee report and Vadakara Kafir screenshot case.
Earlier, Union Minister and BJP National President JP Nadda criticized the Kerala government for delays in delivering justice to victims of sexual harassment in the Malayalam film industry as highlighted in the Justice Hema Committee report. The report, made public last month, includes shocking accounts of harassment, exploitation, and mistreatment faced by women professionals in the industry. (ANI)
