A 25-year-old man has been apprehended in Saroornagar for allegedly shooting his friend's father with an airgun after an apparent fallout over their friendship, police said on Sunday.
The victim, aged 57, suffered an injury to his right eye in the incident, triggered by his decision to send his daughter to the US, reportedly to sever her ties with the accused. The attacker, a former classmate of the daughter, had been harassing her under the guise of affection, authorities reported.
Following the incident, the accused fled but was captured after a case was filed. The victim is receiving medical care at a local hospital as investigations continue, police confirmed.
