R. Thamilarasi, Principal of the Ashok Nagar Girls Higher Secondary School, was transferred on Friday following a controversy over an NGO's 'Spiritual Awakening Classes' at the institution. She has been reassigned to the Government Higher Secondary School in Kovilpathagai, Thiruvallur district, as DMK supporters and social media users questioned the event.

Anbil Mahesh, the state school education minister, announced the formation of a committee to investigate the authorization of the spiritual session conducted by Paramporul Foundation (NGO). 'We will inquire into who was involved, how it occurred, and who granted permission. Based on our findings, we will take action within one to two days,' he stated.

The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Students' Federation of India (SFI) staged protests against the spiritual session. The School Education Department's Chief Educational Officer, S. Mars, assured protesters that strict action would be taken. Chief Minister MK Stalin also responded, highlighting the state's emphasis on scientific education and announcing new guidelines to ensure progressive-scientific ideas are instilled in students.
