In the Chakia Kotwali area of Chandauli district, a wild animal allegedly attacked six villagers in Daudpur Daakhi village while they were asleep. The incident, which has intensified concerns about the wildlife menace in Purvanchal, took place late at night.

According to local sources, the animal, described as having large ears and big teeth, struck without warning. The injured villagers include 12-year-old Sohail, 70-year-old Masla, 25-year-old Ranjit Kumar, 18-year-old Pankaj, 45-year-old Kusum Lata, and 75-year-old Jamuni. "The wild animal came to the village while they were sleeping and attacked. It had big ears and big teeth. Hearing the noise, the wild animal ran away towards the forest," recounted one of the injured villagers.

The commotion prompted nearby villagers to rush to the scene, aiding the injured and scaring the animal back into the forest. The victims were swiftly transported to Chakia Joint District Hospital, where Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Ashok Kumar reported, "Animal bite patients have come to the hospital. All those who have been treated are out of danger." Two were discharged after initial treatment, while four, including two elderly individuals and a child, remain under care.

Following the attack, the Forest Department's Chandraprabha Range team initiated an investigation. Forest Inspector Ramcharitra Singh, who visited the site and hospital, stated, "The villagers have been attacked by a wild animal. It seems to be an animal like a hyena." Traps and a cage are being set up to capture the animal and prevent further incidents.
