Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu took the oath as a Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan on Thursday. The Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Jagdeep Dhankhar, administered the oath during a ceremony at Parliament House.

Leaders present at the ceremony included Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha JP Nadda, and Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and L Murugan. Bittu was one of 12 members elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha on August 28, filling vacant seats. This group includes nine candidates from the BJP, two from its NDA allies, and one from Congress.

Following these elections, the BJP now holds 96 seats in the Rajya Sabha, while the Congress holds 27. The vacancies arose as members were elected to the Lok Sabha in the general elections earlier this year. Bypolls were conducted for one seat each in Telangana and Odisha.
