Inauguration of SBL Energy’s Advanced TNT Plant Boosts India's Defence Manufacturing

SBL Energy Limited, a leading Indian industrial explosives manufacturer, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art TNT manufacturing plant in Nagpur, Maharashtra. With a capacity of 3,000 tons per annum, this plant aims to enhance domestic production, reduce import dependence, and boost defence manufacturing and exports, especially to markets in Australia, Europe, and the US.

SBL Energy Limited, a renowned Indian industrial explosives manufacturer, has launched a cutting-edge TNT manufacturing plant in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The new facility, inaugurated on September 3, 2024, by former Indian Defence Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar, showcases a significant leap in boosting domestic production and reducing import dependency.

The state-of-the-art plant has an annual capacity of 3,000 tons and aims to bolster the company's exports to countries like Australia, Europe, and the United States. Not only will it enhance SBL Energy's order book and revenue, but it will also strengthen India's defence manufacturing sector, aligning with the government's mission for indigenous production and exports.

Chairman Sanjay Choudhari emphasized the plant's role in promoting self-reliance and enhancing India's defence capabilities. The facility also supports the production of various munitions and will aid in the modernisation of existing arsenals. This development forms part of SBL Energy's broader strategy to expand its manufacturing capacity and product range in India.
