The Coal Ministry, led by Additional Secretary and Nominated Authority Smt. Rupinder Brar, conducted a meeting to review the status of coal mines auctioned in various tranches. The review emphasized the government's push to enhance domestic coal production and ensure the operationalization of coal blocks that are in advanced stages of development.

During the meeting, allottees were urged to expedite the process of obtaining regulatory clearances for 71 coal blocks, which are located across nine states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and West Bengal. These blocks are at different stages of process completion and are vital to increasing domestic coal output.

The Coal Ministry's review is part of a larger effort to address hurdles in the operationalization of coal blocks and reduce India's dependence on coal imports. This aligns with the government's goal of meeting the country's growing energy demands and ensuring energy security. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging domestic resources for sustainable economic development.
