Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the victims who lost their lives in rain-related incidents in the state. He assured that relief operations are progressing swiftly.

'An ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh will be provided to the families of the deceased. Autopsies have been conducted on those who have passed away. Food has been provided to six lakh people. Pregnant women facing difficulties will be identified and relocated to safe areas. Rainfall has been recorded upstream since the morning,' CM Naidu told reporters. He added that efforts to deliver food are ongoing despite some delays, and they are ensured the quality of the food. Public feedback is being gathered through interactive voice response (IVRS) calls.

Earlier in the day, CM Naidu held a teleconference with various ministers, collectors, and senior officials, instructing them to ensure that assistance reaches every household amid the ongoing flood-like situation. Heavy rainfall has caused widespread destruction, particularly in Krishna and Guntur districts. Due to the Budameru floods, several areas, including Singhnagar and Nandamuri Nagar, were submerged within hours, with nearly two lakh people taking shelter on the terraces of their buildings.

CM Naidu stated that as the floods recede, there is a possibility of door-to-door delivery of food, water, biscuits, and milk. 'Provide 25 kg of rice, 1 liter of palm oil, 2 kg of onions, 2 kg of potatoes, and 1 kg of sugar to each family. Set up mobile Rythu Bazaars to prevent black marketing and sell vegetables at reasonable prices. In light of potential viral fevers and mosquito-borne diseases, educate people about necessary precautions and set up medical camps in each secretariat,' CM instructed the officials.
