Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urged residents on Wednesday to steer clear of illegal online trading scams. In a statement, CM Himanta cautioned, "There's no way to double or triple your investment overnight." This comes as Assam Police intensify their crackdown on the masterminds behind a prevalent illegal trading scam.

The Chief Minister highlighted that police have apprehended 38 individuals in connection with an online trade scam. Among those arrested were 22-year-old Bishal Phukan from Dibrugarh and Swapnanil Das from Guwahati, accused of being involved in a Rs 2,200 crore financial scam related to fraudulent online stock market investments.

Furthermore, an Assamese actress and her husband have also come under police scrutiny in connection with the case. The investigation remains ongoing.

In other developments, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Monday that the state government aims to create 50,000 additional jobs by May 2025. "In the past three years, we have delivered 1 lakh government jobs as promised during the 2021 assembly elections. This is unprecedented in the state's history. By May 2025, we will create 50,000 more jobs, totaling 2 lakh, all provided without corruption," stated CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
