Former Corporator Vanraj Andekar Shot Dead in Pune

Former Pune Municipal Corporation Corporator Vanraj Andekar was tragically shot dead by unidentified assailants late Sunday night in the Imaandar Chowk area, according to police officials. The attackers allegedly used a sharp weapon before opening fire.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Pune, Ranjan Kumar Sharma, stated that the incident took place around 9:30 pm while Andekar was with his cousin. "Some people attacked them, firing five rounds and using sharp weapons," Sharma reported. Andekar was rapidly transported to King Edward Memorial Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. His body was subsequently sent to Sassoon Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
The police are questioning known individuals whose names have surfaced during the initial investigation. However, authorities have yet to determine the identities and motives of the attackers. "Our crime branch and zone teams are actively involved in seeking and arresting the culprits. The death was confirmed to be caused by a sharp weapon," the police official added.
