Asha-tai Pawar, mother of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, visited the Vitthal and Rukmini temple in Pandharpur on Wednesday, seeking divine intervention for a reunification between her son and his estranged uncle, Sharad Pawar.
Her comments have fueled speculation of a potential reconciliation within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), following the split instigated by Ajit Pawar's defection to the Shiv Sena-BJP government in July 2023.
Senior NCP leader Praful Patel acknowledged the deep respect for Sharad Pawar and expressed optimism about a family reunion, while Minister Narhari Zirwal emphasized the potential benefit such a reunion would bring to party workers.
