In the wake of intense rainfall in Andhra Pradesh, Governor S Abdul Nazeer has voiced concerns regarding the severe floods disrupting normal life in Vijayawada and adjacent areas. He advised citizens to stay in safe locations and only venture out in emergencies, supported by government assistance.

Governor Nazeer underscored the importance for those stranded to contact authorities for National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deployment and safe relocation. He appealed to organizations like the Red Cross, Scouts, Guides, and other NGOs to collaborate with government officials in rescue and relief efforts, distributing food, medicine, and essentials to those affected.

Expressing deep sorrow over flood-related fatalities, Governor Nazeer extended condolences to bereaved families. Concurrently, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu assessed the flood situation on Monday. Aerial footage revealed several inundated areas in Vijayawada.

Chief Minister Naidu told ANI, "We are optimizing our system with 110 boats delivering food and medical aid. Continuous monitoring is underway, and officials are on the ground. We have visited many flood-impacted locations, urging the public to remain calm as command and control centers are established where needed." Persistent downpours have caused significant waterlogging at Budameru Canal and Singhnagar, with officials vigilant for rescue operations.

Separately, a railway track near Intakanne was washed away on Sunday due to heavy rains. Restoration efforts are in progress and expected to conclude by tomorrow evening. Chief Project Manager Subramaniam of South Central Railways detailed six significant breaches, primarily at 418, 432, and 433 km markers, with active repair work currently being performed.
