Mumbai police arrested journalist Rishabh Chakravorty on Sunday for assaulting a cab driver near Asalpha village in Ghatkopar. The incident, which occurred on Friday and was caught on nearby CCTV, resulted in the victim sustaining serious head injuries.
According to senior police officer Santosh Ghatekar of the Parksite Police Station, Chakravorty hit the cab with his car. When asked to compensate for the damage, he drove away, prompting the cab driver to follow him to his residence on LBS Marg. A physical altercation ensued, where Chakravorty and a female passenger slapped the cab driver, and Chakravorty lifted and slammed him onto the ground.
The victim, identified as Qureshi from Govandi, was initially taken to Rajawadi Hospital and later transferred to JJ Hospital due to the severity of his injuries. Chakravorty has been charged with attempted murder and remains in police custody. The police have recorded statements from Chakravorty and his wife, as the investigation continues.
